Transforming Lives in Nepal
9 April 2011 - 22 April 2011

The Nepal Reconstructive team will be returning to Banepa for the 17th time in April 2011. The team of 30 volunteers have all donated their time and expertise to help Nepali's that cannot access healthcare that we take for granted and are aiming to give 60 Nepali's the gift of surgery that will totally transform the lives of the patient and their family. These medical professionals spend every day saving lives, and are now giving up their spare time to travel and do the same for free!

Since the first trip in 1994, over 800 patients have received surgery. Without the Nepal Reconstructive Program many of these patients would not have received surgery at all, and not be able to lead active and productive lives that they are now leading. Originally working with cleft lip and palate deformities, the team now specialises in burns, scar reconstructions and uterine prolapse surgery.

With no government funding currently available for the Nepal visit, we rely on the support of civic minded individuals and companies to support the work.  Each operation costs the team between $300 and $1,000 depending on the complexity. The patient bears no cost, with their total care paid from funds raised by the team.
